South African sensation Tyla made history at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs), where she won double accolades for Top Afrobeats Artist and Top Afrobeats Song for her hit “Water.” The Joburg-born singer, who was nominated for an impressive eight awards, celebrated her groundbreaking achievements in style.

Tyla’s nominations included Top R&B Artist, Top R&B Female, Top R&B Album, Top Afrobeats Artist, and Top R&B Song for “Water,” as well as multiple nominations for her tracks “Water,” “Truth or Dare,” and “Jump,” featuring Gunna and Skillibeng.

During her acceptance speech, she expressed pure disbelief, saying, “I must give a whole speech. Yo, guys. I do not even know this is all happening. Yo, guys. You’re bad, also you’re um, thank you. Thank you, everybody here. You guys killed it. You guys gave me energy. Thank you guys so much.”

Tyla went on to thank those who have supported her, saying, “Thank you to Billboard. Thank you to the label, my label, Epic Records. Thank you, Sylvia. Thank you my Tygas. Thank you my family. Thank you God. Thank you everyone. Thank you my friends and my loved ones. Thank you Africa.”

The 22-year-old also stole the spotlight with a bold and stylish look while performing from a pub in London. Her “office siren” outfit featured a white blouse paired with a black leather bralette, zebra miniskirt, and a diamanté belt buckle. She accessorised with metallic hoop earrings, black rectangular glasses, ripped stockings, chunky boots adorned with chains, and a fun up-do with textured loose waves.
