Fashion-forward singer Tyla made a stylish appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show on Tuesday, February 18, where she shared exciting updates about her career. The star revealed a sneak peek of her upcoming British Vogue cover and gave fans a teaser of her highly anticipated look for the Met Gala.
Tyla also reflected on her performance at last year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which she described as an unforgettable experience. She had the chance to collaborate with Sabrina Carpenter for her first-ever holiday special in December, where the two performed a sweet rendition of “This Christmas.” Tyla shared, “She’s literally like me, like we don’t take things too serious, so it was a lot of laughing,” describing their fun-filled, relaxed dynamic during the collaboration. “It was really fun doing that and being… because I haven’t done a duet like that with another artist. Yeah, it was cute.”
When Hudson asked if there’s anyone else she’d love to work with, Tyla spoke about her dream collaboration with an older artist. “Like a dream song, just passion, like not serious, I would want to do something with… an older artist,” Tyla said. “Like Brian McKnight… or a Babyface, something like old R&B.”
Tyla also laughed off internet rumours about her “stealing” wings at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. She explained that someone had invited her to pick out any pair of wings from the “wing room,” and she made the most of the moment, trying on all the wings. “I was having the time of my life, trying on all the wings,” she said, recalling the white feathered wings she proudly wore, which she captioned “Earned my wings” in a stunning social media post. “That’s mine!” she recalled thinking when she saw them on stage, walking alongside supermodels like Gigi Hadid, Tyra Banks, and Adriana Lima, with a performance from BLACKPINK’s LISA.
On the topic of acting, Tyla kept her options open, sharing that while music is her first love, she’d be interested in exploring more creative projects. “Maybe one day I’ll want to dabble in acting, beauty, creative directing, fashion… I really have a love for it all,” she said. When asked about her dream role, Tyla smiled and said, “I want to be a princess. Like an African princess. I think that would be cute.”
