According to IOL Entertainment, the series, titled “Breaking Down Borders Africa,” chronicles Paul Modjadji’s incredible journey across ten African countries. This 14-part travelogue documentary explores the continent’s vibrant youth and dance culture. Modjadji, an internationally acclaimed choreographer and dancer, along with his team, visits Zambia, Namibia, Tanzania, Kenya, Nigeria, and Senegal, among others.
The producers describe each episode as “a kaleidoscope of experiences showcasing Africa’s leading landmarks and heritage sites through the eyes of youth activists and artists on home soil.”
Joining Modjadji on this extraordinary adventure are his sister, Nthabiseng, a tour coordinator; Sibusiso Mahlangu, a young filmmaker, graphic designer, and photographer; and Ginger Wensky, a South African-based German-born dancer.
The show culminates in a two-part reunion hosted by none other than Minnie Dlamini, promising an engaging and heartfelt conclusion to the series.
“‘Breaking Down Borders Africa’ is a fresh take on Africa by Africans,” the producers added. “Exploring dance and youth culture, the documentary takes viewers inside the lives of some of Africa’s most inspiring change-makers.”
These include BBC Top 100 Inspirational Women award winner Naomi Mwaura, African Union official Lorato Modongo, and the founder of Zimbabwe’s pre-eminent Jibilika arts festival, Plot Makho.
Throughout their journey, the team experiences Africa’s breathtaking natural habitats, tastes exquisite cuisine, and visits iconic sites such as the Nile River, Victoria Falls, and Gorée Island.
