Trevor Noah Defends His Statement On Congratulating Africa For France’s World Cup Victory! After France won the FIFA World Cup a week ago, Trevor took to social media and his show to congratulate Africa as most of the French team are African immigrants.

The comedian received some backlash for his comments including from the Ambassador of France to the USA who wrote him a letter telling him the black players were hundred percent French in every aspect.

In response, Trevor set the record straight saying he was taking away their Frenchness but also wanted to celebrate their Africanness. Basically Trevor told them, ‘I said what I said!’

“When I say they’re African, I’m not saying it as a way to exclude them from their Frenchness. I’m saying it to include them in my Africanness,” Trevor tweeted.
