Award-winning South African actress Thuso Mbedu is set to appear in a brand-new HBO series called Task, which will premiere in South Africa on Showmax this September.
The first official image of Mbedu in her new role has just been released by HBO, creating major excitement among fans. The show comes from Brad Ingelsby, the creator of Mare of Easttown, which won four Emmy Awards and received wide praise. In the series, Thuso plays Sergeant Aleah Clinton, a dedicated officer who is part of a task force working to solve a series of violent robberies in a quiet suburb of Philadelphia. She was nominated for a Critics Choice Best Actress Award for her lead role in The Underground Railroad, and she won the Black Reel Breakthrough Actress Award for her part as Nawi in the hit movie The Woman King. She also did voice work for Mufasa: The Lion King and Castlevania: Nocturne.
