Actress and DJ Thuli Phongolo is reportedly in a “dumping mood,” according to TshisaLIVE. Rumors are swirling that Thuli has not only ended her relationship with DJ Maphorisa but also left her DJ group, 2Faced, in the lurch, leaving her partner, Slenda Da Dancing DJ, in a precarious position.
Sources close to the situation reveal that Thuli decided to sever ties with the former Afrotainment dancer due to feeling that she was contributing more energy and followers to the group than Slenda. “It wasn’t about money but egos,” a source stated. “Thuli felt she could achieve more with her brand solo, similar to how Uncle Waffles is making a global impact as a DJ and dancer. By going solo, she wouldn’t have to split earnings after gigs.”
Another insider criticised Thuli’s decision, describing her as “arrogant” and predicting failure in her solo venture. “On the Durban July weekend, they weren’t booked anywhere as 2Faced due to her ego, thinking she’s a superstar. They attended like other guests. TXC, a female DJ group, is doing well. Slenda Da Dancing DJ has a musical background and will survive in the industry as a solo DJ,” the source added.
Slenda Da Dancing DJ’s manager, Sinomkhosi Ngcobo, refrained from confirming the allegations, stating, “We can’t comment. As far as I know, they are working together.”
