Married at First Sight South Africa has quickly become one of the most talked-about reality shows in the country. For 12 weeks straight, it’s dominated social media trends, keeping fans glued to their screens as they follow the rollercoaster journeys of four couples navigating marriage in real time.

The couples include Palesa Mphaki and Tshepo Miya, Makoto Phumodi and Nkuleleko Mahlangu, Themba Khosa and Nelisa Ntabeni, and Portia Baloyi and Bongani Luvalo. Each relationship has its own share of highs and lows, but in the latest episode, it was Themba and Nelisa’s marriage that took center stage, putting their union to the ultimate test.

With emotions running high, viewers are left wondering what lies ahead for the couple. Ahead of the highly anticipated recommitment ceremony airing Sunday, 28 September at 5:30PM on Mzansi Magic and streaming on Showmax, we caught up with Themba Khosa to hear his thoughts on life inside and outside the experiment.

On Why He Joined the Show

“I was genuinely ready to settle down,” Themba says. “I’ve been through enough in life to know what I want, and I thought this could be a real way to find someone who matches me. I know it sounds wild to marry a stranger, but I came in with an open heart.”

Preparing for the Experiment

For Themba, joining Married at First Sight wasn’t a decision he took lightly. “I took time to reflect on who I am and what I bring into a relationship. I also came to be honest with myself.”

Watching Himself Back on TV

“Yoh, it’s been a lot,” he admits with a laugh. “There were times I cringed, but also moments where I was proud of how I handled things. It’s humbling, hey.”

Looking Ahead to the Reunion

Themba reveals he is preparing himself mentally and emotionally for the reunion, which will air on Sunday, 5 October 2025 at 5:00PM. “I’m taking time to reflect and process everything. I want to come into that space calm, respectful, and ready to own my part. It’s not about defending myself, it’s about telling my truth and hearing others out too.”

First Impressions of Nelisa

“She looked stunning,” Themba recalls about meeting Nelisa for the first time. “That first moment is something I’ll never forget. You’ve got all these nerves and then boom, there she is walking down the aisle. I thought she looked really beautiful.”

Why Viewers Should Keep Watching

“Because the story’s not over,” he teases. “There’s still so much that happens—real challenges, real emotions. People will see how things shift and grow. And trust me, the reunion is going to be something else.”

Clearing the Air

Themba also hinted that he has things he wants to set straight at the reunion. “Definitely. I think some things didn’t come across the way they actually happened. There were moments that were more complex than what people saw. So I’d like the chance to clear that up and be heard properly.”

Building a Family

When asked about his wife’s relationship with his children, Themba beams with hope. “My kids and wife love each other, even though they haven’t spent a lot of time together. I can see a happy family in the future.”

With the recommitment ceremony around the corner and the reunion episode promising even more drama and revelations, Themba and Nelisa’s journey is far from over. One thing is certain: Married at First Sight South Africacontinues to keep the nation talking.
