Longtime The Mommy Club star Mrs Mops, real name Mpumi Mophatlane, has decided to step back from the reality TV show to focus on her family and business. While fans were surprised by her decision, she reassured them that this is not a permanent farewell.
Mrs Mops, an original cast member and a fan favourite, shocked viewers when she announced that she would be leaving The Mommy Club in its third season. Instead of her usual full-time role, she chose to take on a “friend” role this season, allowing her to dedicate more time to her growing business.
“Being part of a reality show is incredibly time-consuming, and in this new chapter of my life, my priority is growing Nala Reign, my family, and continuing to build my brand as a boss babe,” said the mother of three.
Despite her departure, she emphasised that The Mommy Club remains a special part of her life. “The Mommy Club will always be home for me, though, and you can definitely expect me back.”
According to Sunday World, Mrs Mops reflected on her time on the show, describing it as an unforgettable experience. From bonding with the production crew to forming genuine friendships with her fellow cast members, the journey has been both fulfilling and challenging.
“The crew became like family to me, and I really cherished having them in my home and in my life,” she shared. “My kids also loved having the crew around, mainly because of all the yummy snacks they brought along.”
Beyond the cameras, she valued the sisterhood she built with other women on the show. “While we have had our ups and downs, we always manage to come together as women, wives, businesswomen, and moms. The bond we share is real, and that is something I will always treasure.”
However, being in the spotlight was not always easy. Mrs Mops admitted that watching her vulnerable moments play out on screen was more difficult than filming them.
“Sometimes things happen during filming that get contained within the show, but once the audience sees it, it can take on a life of its own. If those moments do not portray you in the best light, it can be tough to handle. But it is all part of the journey,” she explained.
Her exit comes amid reports that her family’s luxurious Pretoria home was set to be auctioned. However, Mrs Mops and her husband, Isaac Mophatlane, have successfully halted the sale.
While stepping away from The Mommy Club, Mrs Mops remains focused on her future, with exciting new ventures in the works.
“I am also balancing my 9-to-5 and motherhood. There are some exciting new things in the pipeline that I’m sure will surprise a lot of people. Just keep watching; big things are coming, and you are going to read about them soon. The future is looking incredibly bright.”
