For the first time ever, the world-renowned Lion King Jr  theatre adaptation will be coming to South Africa, captivating audiences from November to December. This live production is the result of an exciting collaboration between Gauteng’s National Children’s Theatre in Parktown and the Disney Theatrical Group, marking a significant milestone in the show’s history as it celebrates its 30th anniversary.

This beloved adaptation of the classic Disney tale will be performed on South African soil for the very first time, offering a unique opportunity for families to experience the magic of The Lion King up close. Children and adults alike can look forward to seeing their favourite characters—Simba, Rafiki, Timon, and more—come to life in a vibrant and interactive setting.

The show promises not just visual and dramatic thrills, but also an engaging musical experience. Audiences will be encouraged to sing along to nostalgic hits like “Hakuna Matata” and “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King,” making the experience all the more memorable for both the young and the young at heart.

The Lion King Jr. will run from 9 November to 15 December, providing an ideal outing for families and schools looking for entertaining and culturally enriching activities. As the show takes to the stage in South Africa for the first time, it promises to be a spectacular celebration of art, culture, and community—a truly unmissable event.
