The Bala Family Season 3 Put on Hold

South African musician, producer and television personality Zwai Bala has shared an update on the future of the family’s popular reality show, The Bala Family.

Taking to social media, Zwai revealed that fans will have to wait longer for a third season of the reality series. According to the musician, the family has spent almost two years trying to make another season happen, but Season 3 will not be returning in the near future.

Zwai explained that the family was prepared to once again invite viewers into their personal lives, relationships and musical journey.

“The Bala Family – Season 3 Announcement. Africa, we have heard you. So, we owe you an honest answer.

For close to two years, we have been trying to make another season of The Bala Family happen. We wanted to do it. We were ready to open our lives, our homes, our relationships and our music to you again.

But Season 3 is not happening in the near future.”

Zwai also made it clear that the decision was not made by the family, admitting that they were disappointed by the outcome.

“And we want to be clear about something: That decision was not ours. We won’t pretend we’re not disappointed. We are.

Because The Bala Family has never been just a television programme to us. It is our family, our history, our relationships, our music and our name. Putting that into the world requires an enormous emotional investment from every one of us.”

The reality show has allowed viewers to see different sides of the Bala family, from their personal relationships and disagreements to their shared love for music.

Zwai acknowledged that the audience has continued to show how much the show means to them, both online and whenever members of the family perform together.

“And you have reminded us, time and time again, that it means something to you too.

Through your messages. Through the conversations online. Through the packed venues. And especially through what happens whenever this family gets together and sings.

Because as much as people may talk about the drama, the heart of this story has always been the family. The generations of talent. The music. The laughter. The disagreements. The healing. The history. And that inexplicable thing that happens when we are all together.”

Zwai further apologised to fans who had been waiting for the show’s return, particularly because the family’s hopes may have created the impression that another season was guaranteed.

“We were ready. The audience was ready. The decision wasn’t ours.We are sorry for keeping you waiting, especially when our hope may have sounded like a promise.

For now, we simply wanted you to hear the truth directly from us. Thank you for loving this family, for waiting, and for reminding us why this story mattered.”

The latest season of The Bala Family was Season 2, which premiered on Mzansi Magic in August 2024 before concluding in November 2024.

For now, fans will have to wait for further developments regarding the future of the show.
