Thando Thabethe Details Her Not So Romantic Proposal From Her Ex. Actress, TV and radio host Thando Thabethe is currently boo’d up with equally gorgeous actor Lunga Shabalala but before that the beauty was engaged back in 2017 to her entrepreneur ex she had been dating for four years before the proposal.
Thando announced her engagement on social media sharing a photo of her new bling whilst Netflix and chilling. “Night in…just me and some Netflix…thanks @kgomzickles for my gorgeous nails ???????? and bae for the sparkles ???? ????,” she captioned the photo of her new rock,” she captioned the engagement announcement photo.
Thando and her ex broke up a year later and both moved on. Five years later, Thando recently opened up about how the proposal went down and how she feels about the way she was proposed to now. Looking back, Thando’s detailed engagement story explains why our girl announced it the way she did.
During her radio show on 947, Thando shared how her then boyfriend told her not to dress up for a night out and got excited when she saw spectacular views on the way to what she didn’t know would be her proposal. “…and off we drove to Northgate and then we were inside a ice rink and then he went on a knee on the ice. I didn’t know what was happening…. I knew what was happening but I didn’t think that that was going to happen,” Thando detailed.
“Then of course I’m a lady, I don’t know…I had never said I liked ice-skating. I can’t remember the last time I went ice-skating. I don’t want to badmouth him. He did what he thought was romantic or whatever,” Thando said adding how ice-skating wasn’t her thing.
“He was on his knees and he asked. Obviously when you get proposed to it’s like a moment, it doesn’t matter where it is… (well at the time) and so I said yes!,” Thando shared laughing.
“I don’t blame him, it’s fine. It’s what he thought makes sense at the time and he thought it was romantic. But now looking back I’m just like, ‘that’s not me’, I would have loved something romantic,” Thando concluded.
Since that relationship didn’t work out, we hope Lunga listened to the show and took some notes on how not to propose to Thando.
