And the whole world says, AMEN!
Well moving along from the satire piece that claimed that everyone that has an S.T.I will be walking around with a tattoo that reads ‘positive’ above their genitals, a group of teenage boys has finally come up with a reasonable concept to detect if your sexual partner has an S.T.I or not.
The boys are from the Isaac Newton Academy in Essex, UK, they have invented a condom that changes colour when it comes into contact with an unusual strain of bacteria.
It’s common knowledge that with more and more people having casual relationships, the rate of S.T.I’s has drastically increased, hence a need for this innovative technology. Condoms are commonly used, whether it be in a relationship or even by professionals on sites like PornV so this is advancement will only encourage even more people to use them and stay protected when having sex.
Daanyaal Ali, 14, Muaz Nawaz, 13, and Chirag Shah, 14, say that they created the condom to “make detecting harmful S.T.I’s safer and easier than ever before.”
The boys have decided to name the condom ‘The S.T.EYE’ and it’s said that it can detect infections, such as chlamydia and syphilis.
The teens stated that they created the condom for easy and quick S.T.I detection “to help the future of the next generation,” Daanyaal Ali told The Independent.
“We wanted to make something that makes detecting harmful S.T.Is safer than ever before, so that people can take immediate action in the privacy of their own homes without the invasive procedures at the doctors.
“We’ve made sure we’re able to give peace of mind to users and make sure people can be even more responsible than ever before.”
The three teenagers were awarded the TeenTech gong for their invention in the health innovation category at the TeenTech Awards. They were also rewarded with £1,000, (R19192.72) and an all-expenses-paid trip to Buckingham Palace.
Even though the condoms are still in the conceptual stage, this is quite an innovative and impressive idea to come from teenage boys. Until this becomes something that is available to buy, visiting a sexual health clinic like Southwest Care is what people are going to have to do if they want to get tested for any STIs. By also speaking to a healthcare professional, you will also be getting free advice on how to manage the symptoms of an infection, if it comes back positive.
If this product one day gets put on the market for anyone to purchase, will you be buying The S.T.Eye?
