Akhonamathemba Mbele, better known as Sweet Guluva, is still head over heels for Ashley Ogle after winning Big Brother Mzansi season five. The KwaZulu-Natal-born star captured the hearts of many and walked away with the grand prize of R2 million after an overwhelming wave of support from fans.
In an interview with TRUELOVE, Sweet Guluva expressed his excitement and gratitude. Speaking in isiZulu, he thanked everyone who took the time to vote for him, acknowledging the love and support he received throughout the competition.
Many have wondered what made him such a fan favourite, with supporters even taking to the streets to celebrate his victory. However, Sweet Guluva humbly admitted, “If I said I knew, I would be lying.”
Reflecting on his time in the Big Brother house, he described his journey as smooth and drama-free. “My journey was smooth sailing. I was never nominated and I never had any altercations,” he shared.
Before entering the reality show, Sweet Guluva was a student relying on financial aid, with his mother helping pay his fees. To make ends meet, he worked as a barber on campus. “I was a barber at school, always looking for ways to contribute wherever I could,” he added.
When asked about his plans for the prize money, he revealed that he is still deciding on the best way to use it.
But what fans really wanted to know was his relationship status with fellow housemate Ash-ley Ogle. While he kept their future plans private, he confirmed that they would be meeting soon.
“I’m still in love with her,” he admitted, adding that he was single before joining the show and is hopeful about where things will go between them.
With his life forever changed by Big Brother Mzansi, Sweet Guluva is stepping into a new chapter filled with new possibilities.
