On Saturday, November 9, the State Theatre in Pretoria came alive with glamour and celebration as the 2nd edition of the National Film & TV Awards South Africa honoured the country’s brightest stars. Hosted by the charismatic Jordan Kensington, Lesedi Phala, and Nicole Watson from The Real Housewives of Johannesburg, the event attracted an impressive turnout of celebrities, industry players, and fans alike.

According to Biz Community, this year,, an astounding 3.7 million votes poured in from the public, underscoring the passion and support South Africans have for their local talent. Here’s a look at some of the night’s big winners:

Best Actress 2024 went to Nambitha Ben-Mazwi for her roles in Savage Beauty and Empini. Accepting her award, she expressed her gratitude, saying, “I am truly humbled to be recognised by the public. This award is not just for me but for every actor who’s put in the hard work.”

Best Actor 2024 was awarded to Bonko Khoza for his performance in Red Ink, a victory that was celebrated by fans who praised his nuanced acting.

In the category of Best Actress in a TV Series 2024, Zikhona Sodlaka won for her role in Gqeberha – The Empire, cementing her status as a beloved face in South African television.

Trevor Noah was named Celebrity Personality of the Year 2024, a title well-deserved for his influence both locally and internationally. In a heartfelt video message, he said, “This recognition means the world to me. Thank you for supporting me, South Africa!”
