South Africa’s Best Honoured at 7th Royalty Soapie Awards

The 7th Royalty Soapie Awards took place on August 24, 2024, at the Heartfelt Arena in Pretoria, where the biggest names in South African television were celebrated. The event began at 8:00 PM and was filled with glamour, excitement, and recognition for the country’s top soapie stars.

Karabo Magongwa shone brightly as she won Outstanding Young Performer for her role as Keletso in ‘House of Zwide’. The show also saw Mahlatse Mafatshe take home the award for Outstanding Lead Actor and Nefisa Mkhabela win Outstanding Newcomer for her role as Ona.

The River won Outstanding Daily Drama  while Lethabo Mekoa was voted Viewer’s Choice Best Actress. The Viewer’s Choice Best Actor award went to Mahlatsi Moropo from ‘Skeem Saam’.

In the villain categories, Mduduzi Mabaso won Outstanding Male Villain for his role as Mgedeza in ‘Diep City’, and Deli Malinga was named Outstanding Female Villain for playing Mamzobe in ‘Umkhokha: The Curse’.

Zikhona Sodlaka was honoured as Outstanding Lead Actress for her role in ‘Gqeberha: The Empire’. Harriet Manamela won Outstanding Supporting Actress for her performance in ‘Skeem Saam’, and Chrispen Nyathi took home Outstanding Supporting Actor for his role in ‘Diep City’.

Two special awards were given out: Duma Ndlovu received the Trailblazer Award for his significant impact on the industry, and Dr. Jerry Mofokeng was celebrated with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The event also saw familiar faces like Sophie Ndaba, Hellen Motsuki,  and Jessica Nkosi gracing the red carpet, adding to the night’s star-studded atmosphere.

The Royalty Soapie Awards 2024 was a night to remember, filled with well-deserved honour for South Africa’s finest television talents.
