Ufa Dania, a trailblazing plus-sized model representing Kwara State in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant, is quickly gaining momentum. As of today, she has garnered 15,631 votes, a remarkable leap from the 7,778 votes she had just days earlier. This surge in support reflects a growing shift towards inclusivity and representation, not just in Nigeria but also in South Africa, where Dania has captured the hearts of many.
Dania, at 25 years old, is making history as the first plus-sized woman to compete in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant. She openly embraces her dark skin and curvy figure, qualities that have often been overlooked in traditional beauty pageants. Her mission is clear: to represent and inspire girls who have been sidelined by conventional beauty standards.
According to IOL, despite facing online harassment for her appearance, Dania’s confidence and individuality have made her a standout in the competition. “I believe I’m the very first curvy person to ever make it to this level, so already that sets my perspective on a positive note,” Dania shared, highlighting her determination to break barriers.
Currently, Chidimma Adetshina, a former Miss South Africa finalist representing Taraba State, is leading the competition with 17,159 votes. Beyond her participation in the pageant, Dania is passionate about making a tangible impact in her community. She is dedicated to improving educational opportunities for children in Kwara State by renovating local government schools and creating suitable learning environments. Dania believes that arts and crafts can play a crucial role in stimulating brain development and boosting educational participation among children, regardless of their economic background.
“What makes a woman a true queen is not just her looks but the fact that she pays heed to the cries and needs of the people in her community,” Dania asserts. Her commitment to education and social impact has resonated deeply with her supporters, further solidifying her as a strong contender in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant.
