Netflix brought a touch of Regency romance and African elegance to Cape Town when it hosted the Bridgerton Season 4 premiere event on January 24, 2026. The glamorous evening took place at the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA) and attracted a mix of local and international stars, all dressed to impress.
The event celebrated the upcoming season of the hit series and also highlighted African fashion and culture through its theme, AfroCouture Masquerade. Guests took the theme seriously, delivering bold, creative looks inspired by African heritage, textures and symbolism.
Several Bridgerton cast members were in attendance, including South African actress Masali Baduza, who joins Season 4 as Michaela Stirling. Also present were Martins Imhangbe, who plays Will Mondrich, and Emma Naomi, who stars as Alice Mondrich. The evening featured live musical performances, interactive activations and curated culinary offerings, creating a rich and immersive experience for guests.
South African celebrities also showed up in style. Among those spotted were Miss South Africa 2019 and actress Zozibini Tunzi, reality TV star Annie Mthembu, media personality and actress Khanyi Mbau, media mogul Bonang Matheba, actress Dineo Langa, and content creator Sni Mhlongo.
According to News24, Zozibini Tunzi shared her excitement about attending the event and her love for the series.
“I’m a huge Bridgerton fan, and so I was just looking forward to today [and] seeing everyone’s outfits,” the actor and model said.
“But, just like everyone else, I’m so excited to see the show.” She added that the series appeals to her because of its emotional depth.
“It just has a lot of heart and warmth to it,” she said.
Staying true to the AfroCouture theme, Tunzi wore a black dress adorned with metallic shells.
“I immediately wanted to do cowrie shells, because for me they’re just so queenly and African. They used to be used to symbolise royalty back in the day, and so this was my first thought,” she shared.
Khanyi Mbau also expressed her love for the show, describing the night as a dream come true.
“I feel so good. I’m such a Bridgerton fan. It feels like my birthday because I love love, I love fantasy, I love anything that takes me away from my reality and allows me to dream, and I think Bridgerton does that for us,” Mbau said.
“I love the way they always take an era piece and bring it into the now, even with their music. So I’m in awe, guys,” she added.
Actress Dineo Langa and her husband Solo Ntsizwa Ka Mthimkhulu revealed that they had attended all previous Bridgerton events, with AfroCouture being their favourite theme yet.
“I think adding that Africanness this time around definitely makes it feel at home,” Solo said.
Explaining her outfit, Langa shared: “For me, it was leaning into our elements. So my top is a wood-inspired plate, and then my skirt is raffia and rattan and all of that. We’ve really showcased traditional garments and fabrics, so l wanted to just lean in more on that Afro element.”
The Cape Town premiere proved to be a perfect blend of global storytelling and African excellence, setting an exciting tone for Bridgerton Season 4.
