Somizi Served By Hastings Moeng For Intellectual Property Theft. The plot is thickening in the saga surrounding Somizi’s cooking-talk show Dinner At Somizi’s, and it is now alleged that Hastings Moeng is not backing down without a fight.
Somizi Mhlongo was accused of theft by Hastings Moeng who claims and provided valid receipts that the concept of the show was originally his. The topic seems to have come up again according to Sowetan Live, alleging that Hastings and Somizi are in the midst of resolving the intellectual property case, however it has now come to a stand still.
With no progress being made, Hastings and his lawyers have now served Somgaga, the producer of the show Legend Manqele and MultiChoice with letters of demands.
In the demand, Hastings wants acknowledgement for his contribution to the show and a percentage however, after no agreements have been finalised, Moeng is now lawyering up.
Among his letter of demands, Hastings wants to know how much money Somizi made for the first season of the show and is demanding a share.
“MultiChoice is further requested, in good faith, to disclose the agreement entered into between the channel, Somizi and Legend, including the amount that had been paid to Somizi and Legend pertaining to season one” the letter reads.
Hastings also addressed an interview that Somizi did which could be used as proof that the public was correct in saying Somizi and Legend deliberately and intentionally ‘stole’ the cooking-talk show concept “for their own selfish and pecuniary gain”.
