Fans have been calling for Idols SA to bring Somizi back to the show as a judge following multiple GBV allegations that were made against him by his estranged husband Mohale. The veteran entertainer was officially let go from most of his duties including his radio gig on Metro FM.
Somizi stans will be happy to know that their favourite outspoken celeb will me making a come back to the small screen after bagging a presenting gig on a new channel. It has been confirmed by the TimesLive publication that the reality star has officially joined the Moja Love family as a presenter on a new dating show.
The show called Lovey Dovey will give a couple the chance to walk away with R500,000 for their dream wedding. The reality TV show will be TXing in February 2022 and Somgaga will be sharing his hosting duties with actress Gabisile Tshabalala.
According to Somizi, the past few months have been very challenging for him since multiple abuse scandal were levelled against him and was denied a chance to tell his side of the story.
“The past few months of my personal life took a toll on my professional life. As a media personality, it can be hard for people to separate the two … Ever since the reports in the media of GBV involving me and my ex-husband Mohale, I have never been given the benefit of the doubt to share my side of the story but have chosen and prefer to keep my affairs private.” Somizi said.
After releasing a statement refuting all allegations made against him by his ex husband, Mhongo chose to keep a low profile from the media to sort out his personal affairs however, he is excited by his returned and feel that it is long over due. He added how excited he is to be joining Moja Love as they focus on telling authentic African stories which is one of his passions.
“Taking some time off, away from the spotlight, has given me the time to introspect and now I am ready to bring my A-game. I am truly excited to be joining Moja Love, especially because the channel tells our Black stories in the most authentic and realistic way, which is something I am passionate about.” he said.
Moja Love CEO Aubrey Tau said the channel had been receiving multiple calls from viewers asking the channel to being Mhlongo on board. Tau added how although Moja Love does not condone nor support domestic violence or abuse, they did not think it would be fair to deny Mhlongo a second chance, especially if demanded by viewers.
