Media personality Somizi Mhlongo is using his talent and passion to uplift the next generation of dancers and creatives. The 52-year-old entertainer has joined forces with All Gold as an ambassador for their Dance Challenge School Tour, a powerful initiative aimed at inspiring and empowering young pupils through dance.
According to Daily Sun, Somizi, along with fellow stars Bontle Modiselle and Robot Boii, is visiting schools across Gauteng to teach dance, engage with learners, and encourage them to explore their talents beyond the classroom.
“It’s an absolute privilege to be part of this initiative with All Gold. Engaging with young people in a meaningful way is something I’m passionate about because they’re the future,” said Somizi.
He believes that programmes like this not only give learners a fun outlet, but also help build vital life skills.
“These kinds of activations create a space for creativity, self-expression, and learning outside the classroom, which is so important for their personal growth,” he added.
Somizi, who has built a successful career in entertainment, business, and even food, said he wants to lead by example and show young people that dreams can come true through hard work.
“I believe in leading by example. Through my career in entertainment, business, and even food, I always strive to show young people that success comes from passion, hard work, and resilience.
“Initiatives like this allow me to connect with them directly, encouraging them to embrace their talents, stay disciplined, and pursue their dreams,” he said.
He also offered heartfelt advice to pupils hoping to build careers from their talents.
“The most important thing is to believe in yourself. Talent alone isn’t enough – you need to be consistent, disciplined, and willing to learn. Surround yourself with people who uplift you, never be afraid to start small, and always be open to growth. Every great journey begins with a single step,” Somizi said.
Although he didn’t finish high school, he strongly encourages education and personal development.
“Mentorship and education are key in shaping any young person’s future. It’s not just about academic learning but also about gaining life skills, confidence, and the right mindset.
“This activation helps by inspiring pupils to explore their creativity through dance, while also instilling values like teamwork, dedication, and self-belief,” Somizi told Daily Sun.
The school tour is set to reach areas such as Thembisa, Mogale City, Mamelodi, Sebokeng, and Orlando in Soweto – spreading positive energy, powerful lessons, and, of course, dance.
