MZANSI’s beloved and controversial reality show, Big Brother Mzansi, is set to make its highly anticipated return on Sunday, 12 January. The fifth season promises fresh excitement with a new host: Smash Afrika, who is stepping in to replace Lawrence Maleka after three successful seasons.
Smash Afrika, a familiar face in TV and radio, is known for his engaging presence on platforms like YFM, Massive Music on Mzansi Magic, and Channel O. The 36-year-old from Bloemfontein expressed his excitement for the upcoming season, sharing his enthusiasm with the Daily Sun.
“I can’t wait for the season to begin; just four days to go. I can already feel the temperature rising,” Smash Afrika said, adding that he was honoured to be given the opportunity to host Big Brother Mzansi. He revealed that he learned about the hosting role on his birthday, October 31, 2024. “I never thought I’d host it, but I considered entering it,” he admitted.
Smash Afrika is eager to bring something new and exciting to the show. “One thing about me is that I have energy, wit, and charisma. You must tune in every Sunday at 6pm on Mzansi Magic to experience it on the live show,” he said, confident that his dynamic personality will add a unique flair to the show.
With over a decade of experience in the entertainment industry, Smash Afrika is no stranger to challenges. “Nothing yet, and I hope it stays that way. Life has its ups and downs, but our focus should be on getting up when we are knocked down or when we trip and fall. I remember why I love entertaining and inspiring people; that has kept me grounded and focused on my purpose in the industry,” he shared.
