In just a few short months, Skeem Saam actor Mahlatsi Moropo has seen his dreams come true. Last month, the 20-year-old from Limpopo took home the Viewer’s Choice Best Actor award at the Royalty Soapie Awards, and this month, he treated himself to his first car.
Sharing his excitement with Daily Sun, Moropo opened up about what this moment means to him. “This is my first car. Fun fact, I’ve already given her a name—I call her Snowy. It still feels unreal. I got my new baby a few days back and still feel excited when I get inside,” he said with a smile.
For Moropo, owning a car has been a long-time goal. “I wanted to own a car for comfort and convenience. It was on my bucket list for this year, and marking it has made me so happy,” he added.
Reflecting on the incredible past few months, Moropo shared how blessed he feels. “Winning the Royalty Soapie Award is a surreal experience, and I’m still pinching myself to see if it’s real. It’s an incredible honour to be recognised by the industry and peers this way.”
With a deep sense of gratitude, Mahlatsi explained what drives him. “When I achieve something great, I feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. It’s a reminder that I’m exactly where I’m meant to be, doing what I love. It gives me confidence and motivates me to keep pushing boundaries.”
Mahlatsi hopes his success can inspire others. “It’s a privilege to be in a position where I can make a positive difference in the lives of others,” he said. Looking back, he expressed amazement at how far he’s come. “Five years ago, I was still learning and growing, and I didn’t have a clear picture of where I’d be today. I’m amazed at how much I’ve accomplished.”
Grateful for the support from his fans, Mahlatsi made sure to thank them. “Your love and support mean everything. Your kind words and encouragement have made a significant impact. You’re the driving force behind my success.”
Looking ahead, the actor revealed some of his future plans. “I’m continuing to grow and improve my skills, exploring new creative outlets, and focusing on giving back.”
