Popular radio host Sizwe Dhlomo caused a stir online after politely saying no to Lasizwe Dambuza’s invitation to appear on his YouTube show, Awkward Dates. The unexpected moment caught the attention of fans and sparked different opinions on social media.
According to The Citizen, the conversation started when a fan said they would love to see Sizwe on Lasizwe’s show. Always one to take a chance, Lasizwe reached out and invited the Kaya FM presenter to join him for an episode.
However, Sizwe kindly turned down the offer. “I don’t do interviews,” he said, making it clear that he isn’t someone who regularly appears on other people’s platforms.
Still, he showed support for Lasizwe and praised the show. “Good show though. If ever I have something to promote one day, I’ll hit you up. Keep up the good work,” he added.
Instead of joining the show, Sizwe offered something else in return — a week of mentorship. “Don’t bring cameras, but you can shadow me for a full week,” he tweeted to Lasizwe. “I’ll give you a breakdown of how to move in the game. That’s if you’ll find that kind of info useful. Your choice.”
Meanwhile, Lasizwe has been celebrating some wins of his own. A few days ago, he took to social media to share exciting news — he finally landed one of his dream guests for Awkward Dates. He teased fans and asked them to guess who it was. Many thought it might be Bonang Matheba, but Lasizwe later revealed that the special guest is none other than Zozibini Tunzi, the former Miss South Africa and Miss Universe 2019.
Lasizwe has big dreams for the show. In a recent Instagram post, he shared the names of people he’s manifesting to interview next — Bonang, Tyla, Uncle Waffles, Thembinkosi Mthembu, and of course, Zozi, who is now confirmed.
Even though Sizwe said no, it’s clear that Lasizwe is still on the rise — and determined to keep growing his show with big names.
