According to Daily Sun, the channel confirmed the show’s conclusion with a heartfelt message: “Mzansi Wethu’s breakout telenovela Sibongile & The Dlaminis is taking its final bow after two captivating seasons.”

The telenovela quickly became a fan favourite, attracting over two million viewers with its gripping storylines, unexpected twists, and unforgettable characters. It followed Sibongile’s journey and the complicated dynamics within the Dlamini family, making it a staple on weeknights.

“Since its premiere, the show has captured the hearts of over two million viewers with its emotional rollercoasters, plot twists and unforgettable characters. From Sibongile’s rise to the Dlaminis’ family drama, it quickly became a weeknight staple,” the statement continued.

The show also helped launch the careers of many fresh talents. Newcomers like Nsikelelo Mthiyane and Zamuntu Khoza became household names, joining a star-studded cast that included Siyabonga Shibe, Slindile Nodangala, Bhekani Shabalala, Thembi Mtshali-Jones, and Ayanda MaNgubane Borotho.

Mzansi Wethu also shared some exciting news: a brand-new telenovela is on its way, set to premiere in July. While they haven’t confirmed if it will replace Sibongile & The Dlaminis, they did tease what viewers can expect.

“Get ready for a fresh new telenovela hitting your screens on Mzansi Wethu (DStv channel 163) in July. The show’s fierce leading lady, fresh off losing everything in the big city, is forced back to the rural village she fled. But home’s not what it used to be, and neither is she. Get ready for family drama, judging eyes and a complicated love life that’s about to ignite. Can she reinvent herself or will her past devour her?”

Briefly News also confirmed the show’s end. Mzansi Magic’s PR Specialist, Irvin Pooe, said: “Mzansi Wethu’s breakout telenovela Sibongile & The Dlaminis is taking its final bow after two captivating seasons.”

The telenovela now joins other recently cancelled Mzansi favourites such as My Brother’s Keeper, Umkhokha: The Curse, and Champions.
