Award-winning musician Sho Madjozi has announced that her upcoming third album, Limpopo Champions League Vol. 2, will also be her final one, leaving fans both shocked and emotional.
Taking to social media, the star revealed the news ahead of the release of the album’s lead single. “Tomorrow, I drop the lead single for what will be my third and last album. It’s been the wildest possible ride. Grateful for most of it. Limpopo Champions League vol.2,” she wrote.
Speaking to SABC News, Sho Madjozi confirmed her decision, explaining that she feels she has accomplished everything she wanted to through music.
“There’s quite a lot of reasons. I think the main one is that I feel that I have said everything I feel like I needed to say through music. I said a lot. I’ve done a lot about culture, about language, about air, about, you know, being able to be a woman without necessarily being hyper sexualised. Those are all points I wanted to make, and I made them, and I think I made them very well,” she said.
Sho Madjozi, whose real name is Maya Christinah Xichavo Wegerif, plans to explore her other creative talents, including documentary filmmaking. She’s already received funding from National Geographic to work on future projects in this field.
But fans won’t have to wait long for more from the vibrant star. She’s gearing up to release the music video for her latest single, “Ndirine,” featuring chart-topping artists Makhadzi and Gatsheni.
