Sad News For Skeem Saam Viewers. Mzansi will be sad to know that one of their TV favourite’s ‘Skeem Saam’, will be taking a production break. This comes after the show previously took a production break in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since the program’s return, the show clearly lost its mojo and was unable to bounce back as the people favourite. Skeem Saam ratings are said to have declined significantly since, and the TV show will unfortunately be taking a break from March 1st 2021.

SABC spokesperson Mmoni Seapolelo has assured fans of the show that all contactual episodes have been delivered to the broadcasting channel and viewers will be able to enjoy the show without interruption for a few more weeks.

“The SABC has duly fulfilled its contractual obligations in relation to the production of Skeem Saam. We can also confirm that there is no disruption in transmission” said the SABC spokesperson.

‘Skeem Saam’ is reported to have lost over one million viewers which has influenced the channel’s decision to pull the plug for a while. The SABC is also reportedly paying the production for the episodes delivered but after that, the cast and crew are on their own.

Another reason for the declining viewership is because of the favourite characters that have since departed the show such as Charles Maja who passed away in 2020 and Lesego Marakalla who departed to focus on her studies.

Other productions that are also currently feeling the pinch include SABC2 soapie 7 de Laan and Muvhango who have reduced the broadcast day by three days, making room for the return of ‘Giyani’ season 2.
