In a historic sweep at the South African Sports Awards, rugby emerged victorious in an unprecedented eight categories, solidifying its status as the nation’s sporting powerhouse.
With accolades spanning Federation, Administrator, Team, Coach, Sportsman, Newcomer, Sports Star, and People’s Choice, the rugby community celebrated a triumph unparalleled in the event’s 17-year history. Springbok captain Siya Kolisi, a beacon of leadership and resilience, claimed two of the most coveted titles, further cementing his legacy in South African sports history.
According to SA Rugby, reflecting on the monumental achievement, SA Rugby CEO Rian Oberholzer expressed gratitude for the recognition, acknowledging the collective effort that propelled rugby to such heights.
