Real Housewives of Durban (RHOD) star Ameigh Thompson has stirred up social media after making strong comments about stepchildren, saying she could “write a book” about her experiences.

Her remarks were made after Coco Ntshangase, the stepdaughter of Mommy Club star Nozipho Ntshangase, posted a selfie with her new stepmother, Misokuhle Mzizi. The photo showed the two smiling in a car together. Earlier this year, Nozipho’s husband, Zola Ntshangase, married Misokuhle as his second wife after more than 17 years of marriage to Nozipho.

Ameigh reposted the photo to her Instagram Stories, using it to express her thoughts on step-parenting—calling stepchildren “loyal to their parent and whoever holds daddy’s bank card.”

“There is nothing you can do for a child you did not bear,” wrote Thompson. “Their loyalties will always lie with their parent [no matter how toxic they are] and whoever holds daddy’s bank card.”

She also warned other women against trying too hard to be good stepmothers, suggesting it often leads to pain and rejection. “Evil stepmothers always endure the longest, while we, who are like Bob the Builder, face the greatest challenges,” she said.

“If you have no relationship with your children as their father, it is better to leave it that way; trying to fix it may only make you the enemy.”

Thompson added that it’s not only stepchildren who turn their backs on people—biological children can too. Her post didn’t go unnoticed by Coco, who was clearly upset at being dragged into the conversation. She took to her own Instagram Stories to speak out.

“I just want to say I really don’t appreciate the cyberbullying that’s been going around,” said Coco. “It’s draining seeing people speak on things they honestly don’t know much about; what was shared online is only a small part of what’s really been happening.”

The situation has sparked a wider discussion online about blended families, step-parenting, and the emotional struggles many face behind closed doors.
