Rethabile Khumalo, the talented South African singer, has shared a deeply emotional tribute to her late mother, Winnie Khumalo, who passed away on January 7, 2025, after a brief illness. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Rethabile, who bears a striking resemblance to her mother, shared a touching photo of the two of them together. The caption read: “Mom, you are the most beautiful memory I keep locked in my heart. I miss you.”

Throughout her career, Rethabile had the unwavering support of her mother, who often shared the stage with her for performances. Winnie, a beloved figure in the South African music scene, was known for her own successful career as a singer and dancer. Her hit song “Live My Life” remains one of her most iconic tracks.

At Winnie’s memorial service, Rethabile honored her mother with a powerful tribute performance. She sang a heartfelt song in her mother’s memory, demonstrating the deep bond they shared. Rethabile also vowed to continue her mother’s legacy, promising to burn incense for her and strive to make her proud in everything she does.

Winnie Khumalo’s funeral was held on January 18, 2025, at the Protea South Multipurpose Hall in Soweto, South Africa. The service was attended by family, friends, fellow musicians, celebrities, and government officials, all coming together to celebrate Winnie’s life and legacy. The ceremony was an emotional farewell to a woman whose influence on South African music and culture will not be forgotten.

Winnie Khumalo was only 51 years old when she passed away, leaving behind a legacy of music and dance that touched the hearts of many. Rethabile, who grew up surrounded by her mother’s love and support, now faces the difficult task of carrying forward that legacy. Despite the immense grief she is experiencing, Rethabile is determined to honor her mother’s memory by staying true to the values and passions they both shared.
