In a heart-wrenching ceremony yesterday, controversial Limpopo rapper Lehlogonolo ‘Shebeshxt’ Chauke laid his eight-year-old daughter, Onthatile Gladys Chuene, to rest. Theses news is according to ZiMoja. The young girl tragically lost her life in a car accident that has left a profound impact on her family and community.

The funeral, held at Shebeshxt’s home in Lebowakgomo, Limpopo, was a somber affair attended by close family and friends. Onthatile was buried in a white casket adorned with Disney’s Frozen animation, a touching nod to her childhood innocence and love for the beloved characters.

Despite being seriously injured and hospitalised in ICU following the accident, Shebeshxt made special arrangements with the hospital for a temporary discharge to attend his daughter’s burial. His presence at the funeral was marked by a deeply emotional tribute to Onthatile. “You left a huge void in our hearts. I don’t think we will ever recover from this,” he expressed in a poignant note. “We might seem strong, but deep down we wish we could wake up from this terrible nightmare and see your beautiful face and hear your wonderful voice saying, ‘Ke rata Batswadi baka ka pelo ka moka’ (I love my parents wholeheartedly).”

The tragic accident occurred on the R37 near the Smelters Mine outside Polokwane, as Shebeshxt was en route to a gig around 10 pm. His car reportedly collided with a truck and overturned, resulting in the death of Onthatile and serious injuries to Shebeshxt and another passenger. The police are still investigating the cause of the accident, with Provincial Department of Transport and Community Safety spokesperson Tidimalo Chuene confirming the details.

The accident has left an indelible mark on Shebeshxt’s family. A close friend of the rapper revealed that his wife, Kholofelo Chuene, has been severely affected, struggling to eat or speak since the tragedy. “She is not okay and was given medication to calm down. She has not been able to eat. We hope she gets through this because she has endured a lot,” the friend shared.
