South African rapper Lehlogonolo Chauke, better known as Shebeshxt, continues to honour the memory of his late daughter, Onthatile Gladys, with another deeply emotional tattoo. The rapper, who tragically lost nine-year-old Onthatile in a devastating car accident in June, recently revealed a second tattoo of her face on his leg, symbolising his enduring love and unshakable grief.
Taking to social media, Chauke shared a heartbreaking message alongside the tattoo’s debut, writing, “I miss you every second of my life. Until we meet again, my love. Onthatile Gladys, my daughter,” followed by heartbreak and crying emojis. This latest tattoo serves as yet another tribute to his beloved daughter, following an earlier inking he revealed just weeks after being released from the hospital.
The June accident left Chauke with serious injuries and took the life of his daughter, Onthatile, a grade 3 student at Northern Academy in Polokwane. The accident occurred as Chauke was driving to his girlfriend’s home to drop off Onthatile before heading to perform at an ANC Siyanqoba rally concert. The collision with a truck tragically altered the course of his life, plunging him into deep sorrow.
According to TshisaLIVE, Chauke’s lawyer and family spokesperson, Lot Ramusi, revealed the emotional toll the accident has taken on the rapper. “Shebeshxt is devastated, and he’ll be in trauma counseling together with his girlfriend over the loss of their daughter. Emotionally, he is not OK, which is obvious from what they have endured with the loss of life,” Ramusi said. Currently, Chauke is focusing on his mental health and physical recovery.
Despite the overwhelming grief, Shebeshxt is preparing to make a powerful return to the stage. On September 28, he will share his story through a concert titled My Music, My Story at the Opera Theatre in Pretoria. The performance will offer fans a glimpse into the rapper’s journey, shedding light on the heartache and resilience that have defined his recent months.
