Rapper Da Les, known for his hit All Eyes on Me, is allegedly recovering at home after spending over a month in the hospital following a stroke in July. Reported by ZiMoja, according to sources close to the situation, Da Les, real name Leslie Jonathan Mampe Jr., is making progress, although he still has a speech impairment.
The former Jozi member received treatment at Charlotte Maxeke and South Rand hospitals, where he began his rehabilitation. A source shared, “He was treated with the highest form of care, but his family felt it was best for him to continue recovering at home.” The source added that family members are now taking turns to care for the rapper, with his mother, who had been based in the US, flying in to support him.
Da Les is reportedly showing signs of improvement, including slowly regaining his speech and learning to walk again. “He’s aware of what’s happening and is determined to get back on his feet,” the source said. While his right side has sensation, it still lacks mobility, but his rehabilitation is helping him make progress.
In an effort to protect Da Les from media attention and potential leaks, the family has limited access to friends and some family members until he is fully recovered. “It’s heartbreaking to see him like this, but he’s strong and determined,” the source added.
Aurea Alexander, the rapper’s baby mama, confirmed that Da Les is out of the hospital and recovering at home. “We will give the media an update soon,” she said.
