Rachel Kolisi Responds To Backlash Over Straightening 2 Year Old Daughter’s Hair! Wife of Springbok Captain Rachel Kolisi has faced major backlash on social media for her choice to straighten her daughter’s hair.
Critics have called out the mother of two after posting an innocent picture on Instagram of her daughter Keziah (2) with a new hairdo. Women bombarded her comments section telling Rachel to teach her daughter to be proud of her natural curly hair rather than showing her alternative ways of styling it.
One woman came as far as stating that the child should choose whether or not to change her hair when she is if age and black women have been made to feel that their natural, kinky hair is not beautiful and that silky, straight hair is acceptable in society.
Rachel defended herself posing the question of how straightening her daughter’s hair for the first time is teaching her that straightening her hair is more appealing than her natural curly hair.
“This is a genuine question, how is straightening my daughter hair for the first time ever is making her feel that straight hair is more beautiful than curly?,” Rachel responded.
Kolisi also expressed that she just wanted to see what her daughter would look like with straight hair. More importantly expressed that whatever hairstyle chosen by her daughter has nothing to do with anyone and that they should mind their own business.
