Private Funeral Set To Be Held For Hugh Masekela! The legendary singer’s family held a press conference on Thursday addressing the media since news of his death broke on Tuesday.
His son Sal Masekela revealed that it was his father’s wish to have a private funeral for family and close friends, and that they would honor his last wish. They’re planning a great funeral service that should be perfect to send Hugh off. Life can just be so unpredictable, so it’s important to make sure that we give our loved ones a great send off. Of course, funerals and burial services can be expensive, so burial insurance should be considered to help families cover the expense. Of course, this family should be able to cover the cost though due to Hugh’s successful career.
“The funeral will be for close family and friends, this is what he wanted, anyone who wants to pay their respects can go to the various memorial events,” Sal said. He also stated that this would be a time for the family to grieve and mourn their loss. He continues stating, that funeral planning is currently underway, there is still so much to do, and it is a tough time for the family. He went as far as to state that at one point, it was difficult for them to choose whether or not to have a half couch or full couch casket for his father, so having a private funeral would be a good idea for the family.
The family also announced that there will be at least three public memorial services. The main memorial service will be held on January 28 at UJ Soweto Campus. The family also plans to organize various international memorial services in Bra Hugh’s honor.
“I can say that for my entire family when you get the amount of love and just pure personal stories from people all over the world. The passion with which they loved this man is incredible. We can’t stop marveling at the passion with which the world continues to celebrate and mourn my father. We say thank you again,” Sal said.
