Renowned actress Phindile Gwala has taken on a new role as co-host of Zee Zonke’s latest original production, Amaqhawe – Our Heroes. This exciting show, which airs in isiZulu, celebrates the remarkable stories of unsung South African heroes. It marks the DStv channel’s first local isiZulu production, following its launch last year with a focus on bringing Bollywood to a South African audience.
Gwala co-hosts the show alongside actor and musician Luthando ‘BU’ Mthembu. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Mthembu expressed his admiration for his co-star, praising her radiant energy. “I’ve worked with countless talented individuals but never have I with such a bright soul. I am grateful to have had the chance to share the same spotlight as you, Queen. Keep shining bright like the diamond that you are,” he wrote.
Known for her captivating on-screen performances, Gwala is set to bring her signature charm and storytelling talent to Amaqhawe. As one of the hosts, she will play a key role in uncovering and sharing inspiring stories of ordinary South Africans who have made extraordinary contributions to society.
