According to ZiMoja renowned TV and radio presenter Penny Lebyane has unexpectedly resigned from her popular show #InspiredSundays on Radio 2000. Known for her engaging discussions on lifestyle, spirituality, and wellness, Lebyane had firmly established herself in the Sunday 3-6pm slot on the SABC station.

Lebyane, who previously worked at the now-defunct Massiv Metro online station headed by DJ Sibusiso “Sbu” Leope, joined Radio 2000 last year and quickly became a fan favourite . However, she has been off the air for a few weeks, leading listeners to believe she was ill. It has now been revealed that she has resigned with immediate effect.

An insider at the SABC told ZiMoja that Lebyane, affectionately known as “The Phly One” among her fans, handed in her resignation without providing detailed reasons. “Penny is known for her high values and integrity. She’s an amazing presenter and person, and she didn’t want to delve into the reasons behind her sudden departure,” the source said.

The station has yet to confirm her departure and has not responded to inquiries on the matter. A colleague mentioned, “She’s dealing with some personal issues and needs time off. There is a lot happening in her life, and this is just one aspect.”

When contacted, Lebyane chose not to discuss her reasons for leaving. “I won’t comment on anything. I just need my space. I’m not saying anything,” she stated.
