Pearl Thusi Bags A Cool Hosting Gig. The big days days are upon us and the festivities are underway. Many awards ceremony’s are currently taking place and Africa’s biggest music night is almost here. The All Africa Music Awards also known as the AFRIMAwards will be recognizing the biggest artists around Africa and our girl Pearl Thusi will be handling the hosting duties.
Pearl has an impressive history when it comes to hosting major events which include the SAMA’s, the Metro FM awards and now the AFRIMA’s. Taking to twitter, Mama Panther revealed the exciting news of securing the bag as this years host for the All Africa Music Awards alongside British-Congolese comedian, presenter, actor, Philanthropist and MC Eddie Kadi.
Looking back at Pearl‘s dragging record on twitter, it would make sense why she has a little PTSD about social media users who troll her even for the good things rather than celebrating with her. Thusi joked about South African trolls who are going to refer to her as a “Naija slut” because of this gig, which we think would be ridiculous but very likely to happen. Pearl is flying out to Nigeria tonight where the awards will be taking place and we wish her all the best for the event.
“Flying to Nigeria tonight to host the @AFRIMAWARDS with @EddieKadi …Let’s count down to the South Africa first people calling me a naija slut lol. Ngithwele idumbe bafwethu” she wrote.
The Queen Sono actress was recently a topic of discussion on twitter after social media users questioned her interviewing skills. While Pearl was still a host on BET talk show, Behind the Story, her interviewing skills were often questioned by social media users who claim she is unfit to carry an interview to completion while asking relevant questions that people want to know.
The critic made an example of Thusi’s Behind the Story interview with media personality and singer Unathi, claiming that she missed the mark. Pearl defended herself saying that the editors cut all the important bits out because she interview Unathi for over two hours.
“I spent about 2/3 hours interviewing sis Unathi.. please discuss your concerns. With the editors. That was one of my fav interviews and the edit doesn’t reflect what I experienced on the day,” Pearl said.
Unfortunatley, Pearl did not return for the fifth season of the show after being replaced by personality and actress Nomalanga Shozi. Hopefully critics will have a better review of her work this time.
