Patrick Seleka, widely known for his role as Kat on Skeem Saam, is beaming with pride after receiving his first-ever South African Film and Television Award (SAFTA) nomination. His Netflix cooking show, The Cook-A-Long, has been nominated for Best Lifestyle Programme, marking a new milestone in his career.
Reflecting on the past year, Patrick shared his excitement, saying, “This is my first award nomination, and it’s one of the biggest nominations. I’m proud.” The show, which was inspired by his love for cooking from his Skeem Saam character, has become a passion project for the actor. “My bosses there told me to try it and see what I can do, and that show is what we gave birth to,” he added said talking to Daily Sun.
While 2023 came with its challenges, including Patrick publicly apologising for emotional abuse toward his wife, the actor revealed that he has since moved forward. “Life has moved on, and I’m happy now,” he said, referring to his new partner, Tshepang.
Besides his work in television, Patrick is also focusing on his music career, currently working on an upcoming EP. “It’s not complete yet, but we hope to finish it soon. I don’t want to reveal too much about it until it’s ready,” he teased.
