TV personalities Siyabonga “Scoop” Ngwekazi and Pamela Mtanga are gearing up to host the 31st Annual South African Music Awards (SAMA 2025). The pair will lead the ceremony on 14 December under the theme “Flowers For Those Who Keep Our Nation Singing.”

Scoop Makhathini, born Siyabonga Ngwekazi (44), and Pamela Mtanga (29) will co-present this year’s event, which will look different from the usual big-stage celebration. The SAMA31 ceremony will be a hybrid show with no single public venue. Instead, fans can look forward to a mix of live and digital elements, with performances and content streamed across various platforms.

According to Daily Sun, SAMA spokesman Unati Cwija said this year’s theme is about celebrating artists for more than just their achievements.

“Flowers For Those Who Keep Our Nation Singing is a call to appreciation, to give our artists their flowers now. It’s about recognising the musicians, producers, composers, and collaborators who continue to make South Africa sing, who turn struggle into sound and rhythm into resilience,” he said.

Unati also shared why Scoop and Pamela were chosen to host the event.

“The SAMA  has always been a platform that honours excellence, and our presenters must embody that spirit. Makhathini and Mtanga bring a rare combination of experience, authenticity, and cultural resonance. Together they will deliver a hybrid show that is fresh, compelling, and worthy of the legacy of South African music,” he said.

Organisers praised Pamela Mtanga’s entrepreneurial drive, fashion and beauty influence, and passion for telling genuine African stories.

“She brings to the Sama stage a radiant blend of freshness, confidence, and cultural fluency, a bloom symbolic of the creativity, ambition, and vibrancy celebrated this year,” they said.

They added that Pamela and Scoop represent the theme perfectly, bringing both “freshness and wisdom, vibrancy and depth, new petals and steady roots.” As hosts, they won’t just present awards—they will guide the night’s storytelling and help honour artists in the true spirit of “giving them their flowers now.”

The SAMA31 hybrid experience is set to offer a new and exciting way to celebrate the artists who keep Mzansi’s music alive.
