What’s the worst that can happen to a person before ‘the big day’? If you ask us we’d say getting arrested on your wedding eve, yea just like in the movies it happened in real life to Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Brighton Mhlongo after he got arrested on Good Friday which also happened to be his wedding eve
Mhlongo was arrested for doing 173km/h in a 120km/h zone. The footballer however denied claims that he was drunk, saying he was rushing to sort out preparations for his wedding that was due to take place in Protea Glen on Saturday. “I was getting married over the weekend, so I was not in a good state of mind because I wanted to sort things out quickly, rush, rush”, he said. Isn’t what they all say, “rushing”?
The newly wed issued a public apology saying, “All I can say to the public is that I was wrong. It is very bad, especially when it is done by us young stars. We are supposed to be role models and obviously we lost players due to accidents… I am very sorry for my actions, I have learnt from this mistake.”
One would say he was trying to dodge the bullet but it could be he was actually running to get to the wedding as he claims in a statement. We’ll just have to take his word for it. He is set to appear in Brixton Magistrate’s Court today.
