Reality TV star, actress, and TV producer Omuhle Gela has made a surprising exit from Tropika Island of Treasure Season 11, where she was a frontrunner for the R1 million prize. Gela’s withdrawal comes as she opts to pursue a promising acting role instead, leaving the competition series scrambling to fill her spot.
According to ZiMoja, in a heartfelt statement, Gela expressed that the decision was not made lightly. “After much consideration and discussion with my acting agent, management team, and production, it has become apparent that my involvement in a new upcoming television series will conflict with the shooting schedule for Tropika Island of Treasure,” she explained.
Also reported by ZiMoja, Gela, who took a year-long break to reassess her career path, shared that prioritising this new acting contract aligns better with her professional goals. “It is with sincere and heartfelt gratitude that I express my appreciation for the opportunity to be part of Tropika Island of Treasure. I was eagerly anticipating the show,” she said. “However, we have concluded that prioritising a longer acting contract in my professional field is in my best interest.”
Despite her departure, Gela extended her deepest apologies to the show’s team and her supporters, wishing them all the best. Her decision highlights the complex balancing act many entertainers face when navigating multiple high-profile opportunities.
