Omuhle Gela Explains Why She Refused To Bless A Fan With A Wig! Social media comes with its own pressures that seem to affect a lot of young women’s self esteem and make they feel like they need certain things they can’t afford.
Actress Omuhle Gela recently played responsible big sis to fan who asked her for a big because her friends had wigs and she could not afford one. Taking to Instagram, Omuhle explained why she denied the girl a wig in an attempt to teach other girls the importance of hard work and the difference between a need and a want.
Omuhle explained to the fan that most girls have braids in school and she didn’t necessarily need a weave. She told her that she needed to earn the things she wants.
This reminds me of me growing up. So here’s the thing, I fully understand the pressure there is as a young woman, with social media, slaying etc. truth is , even with us growing up there’s ALWAYS been been peer pressure and it’s always gonna be there. They (Omuhle’s parents) did however always say NO, when I asked for things I DO NOT need cause they prioritized our education and wat we NEED first,” she explained.
“So don’t fall in the peer pressure trap, focus on school and ur goals. And PLEASE DO NOT ask me for things you don’t need cause I’m not a millionaire I’m just a girl out here trying to make it in life. Like you. Sisonke,” she added.
