South African gospel group Omega Circle has dropped a deeply moving new EP titled “Worship Songs I Could Have Sang With My Mother,” a project born from grief, reflection, and unwavering faith.

The EP reflects on one of life’s most profound losses — the passing of a mother — and explores how trust in God can bring comfort in even the loneliest moments. For the songwriter behind the project, this year marks 20 years since his mother’s passing, a milestone that sparked the creation of the EP.

“Losing a mother is perhaps one of the hardest things anyone can face,” the group says. “It shakes your foundation and challenges your trust in the world. But in that void, I found myself leaning into God, trusting Him to guide me through.”

Central to the EP is the theme of trust, captured in the phrase “Ndithembe kuwe,” which translates to “I trust in You.”The words recur throughout the songs, offering a message of faith and spiritual surrender.

The idea for the EP came unexpectedly. One February morning, feeling uninspired, the songwriter was struck by the realization that two decades had passed since his mother’s death. That moment ignited a wave of creativity, inspiring songs he imagines he and his mother might have sung together — perhaps even with the grandchildren she never met.

Each track was written with care, some in quiet early-morning hours, others in unplanned moments of reflection. All songs were written specifically for this EP, except for a reimagined version of Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika, which opens the project and sets the tone for the worship journey ahead.

“This EP is an ode to a first love — the woman who taught me how to love myself and how to love God,” Omega Circle explains. “Worship music becomes a bridge, connecting us to memories and a warmth we can no longer physically experience.”

“Worship Songs I Could Have Sang With My Mother” is now available on major streaming platforms, inviting listeners into a space of worship, healing, and reflection.
