Controversial music executive Nhlamulo “Nota” Baloyi, known for his outspoken views and public disputes, has shared his experience behind bars after being released from Johannesburg Prison, also known as Sun City, this week. After serving just over two weeks of his 60-day sentence, Nota walked out of prison on Monday, reflecting on his time inside.

Earlier this month, Baloyi was arrested after appearing in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court for a rape case. However, his imprisonment was due to contempt of court following a separate case involving rapper K.O. (Ntokozo Mdluli). K.O. had obtained a court order preventing Baloyi from disclosing information linking him to the murder of rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes, which Baloyi disregarded by sharing the details on social media.

Following Baloyi’s claims that K.O. and his family were involved in AKA’s death, K.O. was granted an interdict against him. Baloyi had alleged that AKA was murdered by unidentified assailants who were allegedly linked to K.O.’s brother, Siya Mdluli, who he claimed was present during the shooting in February 2023.

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Nota described his jail experience, offering a glimpse into his life behind bars. “Among serial killers, mass murderers, rapists, scammers, fraudsters & all manner of deplorable characters, your GOAT was the biggest rockstar… Inside I had my meals brought to me, my clothes ironed every morning from the day I arrived to a bed waiting for me, until my release!” he said, giving an unexpected take on his stay in prison.

Baloyi also reflected on the comforts he enjoyed in jail, despite being surrounded by high-profile criminals. “I dropped my Dove soap & picked up with no problems. There was no sharing of showers in my non-smoking cell even though we had multiple raids during my stay there, the first of which was in the morning of my first Sunday in prison & the last was done by the EST on my final night!” he shared, revealing the irony of his experience.

He also added, “There’s no supper in jail. You get porridge for breakfast & 5 slices of bread after the nonsense they give us prisoners for lunch, fortunately for me, I converted to Judaism because the kosher menu has rice & better quality protein than that of the Christians & pork, unlike Halal!”
