The high-profile and often tumultuous marriage between music executive Nota Baloyi and Zimbabwean-born singer Berita has recently come to an end. The couple, whose relationship has frequently made headlines, has finalized their divorce, as announced by controversial blogger Musa Khwaula on Twitter.
“Berita and Nota Baloyi officially part ways. Berita finally free from the shackles of her now ex-husband Nota Baloyi as they finalized their divorce today,” Musa tweeted, signaling the end of a highly publicized saga.
Despite the divorce, Nota, whose real name is Nhlamulo Baloyi, had been vocal about his reluctance to let go of the marriage. In March, he took to Twitter to declare his unwavering commitment to saving his relationship. “My marriage is my most prized accomplishment… One I’d rather die than give up on. I’m done praying about it, God wants me to fight satan head-on & bring my wife back home!” Nota wrote, underscoring his emotional investment.
Berita, born Gugulethu Khumalo, provided a contrasting narrative. In a revealing radio interview with Kaya 959’s Sol Phenduka and Dineo Ranaka, she described her marriage to Nota as abusive and narcissistic. Berita further revealed that she had to leave the country to escape the toxic environment, emphasising the severity of the situation.
Adding another layer of complexity, Nota once claimed that Berita owes him R6 million. While the details of this financial dispute remain unclear, it highlights the ongoing tensions between the two.
Berita, a celebrated singer, songwriter, and music producer, has often been in the spotlight due to her high-profile relationship with Nota. Their marriage, marked by frequent social media drama, has consistently captivated public attention.
