Known for her bold personality and glamorous looks on The Real Housewives of Durban, Nonku Williams is now showing a much more vulnerable side of herself on Showmax’s emotional series Untied. Hosted by award-winning media personality Relebogile Mabotja, the show explores the painful and personal journeys of divorce through the eyes of famous South African women.
In a recent episode, Nonku revealed the heartbreak, healing, and lessons she learned from her past. Speaking to Relebogile, she shared why she joined the show and what it meant for her to finally speak her truth.
“I felt it was time to share my story,” she said. “I trust God has a plan, and this moment is part of it. My hope is that my message will bring healing to another woman who needs to hear it.”
Although Nonku has been on reality TV for years, she says Untied allowed her to open up like never before.
“While I’ve been on reality TV, the real me hasn’t always been shown,” she explained. “I want to share my truth to uplift and inspire others who’ve faced similar struggles. This was the perfect platform for that.”
Talking about her painful past—especially the trauma and abuse she went through—was not easy. But Nonku believes her story can help others who are suffering silently.
“Sharing my story has been both painful and healing,” she said. “The memories and triggers are still there, but speaking about them helps bring restoration. It’s my way of healing and hopefully helping others heal too.”
She also spoke about how her divorce changed the way she sees herself.
“It was a turning point,” she said. “I realised my worth doesn’t come from being married or from what others think of me. My identity is in God, and that’s where I found true freedom and purpose.”
Faith played a big role in her decision to be so honest on the show.
“Without the Holy Spirit, I couldn’t have done this. God called me to share my story, and I had to let go of my fears,” she said. “It wasn’t easy, but I believe it was necessary for a greater purpose.”
Being this open in front of the country was scary, but Nonku says she’s proud of her decision.
“It’s not easy exposing the most private and painful parts of my life,” she admitted. “But I’ve reached a place where I no longer worry about what people think. I’m focused on telling my truth, and that feels freeing.”
Through Untied, Nonku Williams is using her story to give strength to others going through difficult times. Her message is clear: no matter how dark things seem, there’s always hope and healing on the other side.
