South African actress and Global Citizen ambassador, Nomzamo Mbatha, shared an unforgettable experience during her recent trip to Switzerland for the 2025 World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos-Klosters. Held from January 20-24, the event brought together global leaders, visionaries, and activists under the theme Collaboration for the Intelligent Age, aimed at addressing critical global issues such as climate change, AI, education, clean energy, and more.
Mbatha, who has been a Global Citizen ambassador since 2018, highlighted the significance of her participation in the forum, where she connected with influential figures across government, the private sector, and entertainment. “This year’s @worldeconomicforum in Davos with @glbltzn and all the incredible partners who support and uplift the movement to end extreme poverty was another resounding success,” she wrote on her social media.
Reflecting on her time in Switzerland, Mbatha expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to be in rooms with leaders who are working towards positive global change. “So fortunate to have been in rooms with government leaders, private sector titans, and public figures that have a desire and shared vision to make global changes at all scales in their different sectors,” she said, adding that the discussions centered around important issues like climate equity, AI, quality education, and clean energy.
She also took a moment to appreciate the personal connections she made at the event, sharing that she reconnected with old friends and formed lasting bonds with new ones. “Connected with old friends and made so many new ones that I will soon not forget,” she said.
A highlight of the event was a chance encounter with world-renowned football icon, David Beckham. Mbatha shared a picture with the famous athlete, making the moment even more special. Her sister, Wendy Mbatha, expressed her pride in her sibling’s accomplishments, commenting, “What a time to be alive. I’m honestly and deeply grateful to witness such success for you my love.
