Last night, South African actress and UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Nomzamo Mbatha hosted the prestigious Nansen Refugee Awards 2024. She shared the news on her social media, expressing excitement about celebrating unsung heroes who work tirelessly to support refugees around the world.

In a heartfelt video post, Mbatha said, “We get to shine a light and celebrate our unsung heroes who are giving hope away from home for refugees around the world. You deserve this award, and thank you for the work that you do.” She encouraged her followers to tune into the live stream of the event, captioning, “Are you ready for the #NansenAward? Tonight, we honour those who go above and beyond to protect refugees, internally displaced and stateless people.”

The awards, held in Geneva on October 14, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. CEST, not only showcased the remarkable work of the winners but also featured performances by Goodwill Ambassador Kat Graham, Moldovan soprano Valentina Nafornita, and singer/songwriter Emeli Sandé (MBE). The event was livestreamed for audiences around the world, further amplifying the recognition of those who dedicate their lives to providing hope and protection for refugees.
