Actress and Earthshot Prize ambassador Nomzamo Mbatha continues to make a difference in the lives of women entrepreneurs. Through her foundation, The Lighthouse Foundation, and in partnership with Hollywood Foundation, she has provided financial support to two inspiring businesswomen.
Taking to Instagram, Nomzamo shared the exciting news, emphasising the power of women uplifting each other. “Empowered Women, Empower Women,” she wrote.
She went on to highlight the recent journey her team undertook, traveling across two provinces to celebrate the winners of the EmpoweringHER 2024 Business Awards and Seminar. The first prize winner, MH Automotive Engineering (Pty) Ltd, received R200 000, while the third prize recipient, Dudu M (Pty) Ltd, was awarded R100 000 to invest in her coal manufacturing and timber distribution business.
Reflecting on their visit to Mpumalanga to meet Dudu M, Nomzamo shared, “After 3 hours on the road from Johannesburg to Mpumalanga, we arrived to a woman at work at her plant. Her motivational letter and entry form had detailed how she needed machinery, equipment, and cash investment to grow her business. Together with Hollywood Foundation, this became a reality.”
The initiative aims to provide financial support and resources to female entrepreneurs, helping them expand their businesses and create lasting change in their industries. Nomzamo encouraged women to seize such opportunities, adding, “I hope that when we open applications this year, you know of a woman founder or you’ll bet on yourself and we can seed into your business in a meaningful way!”
Through her foundation and partnerships, Nomzamo Mbatha continues to shine as a beacon of hope for women in business, proving that when women support each other, great things happen.
