Nomsa opened up about the ordeal during a live Facebook video that has since been deleted. In the clip, the visibly distressed media personality struggled to hold back tears as she explained how she became involved in the situation without realising the danger.
According to Nomsa, the nightmare began when she received a phone call from a woman who introduced herself as Noluthando. The woman claimed she was getting married and urgently needed an interior designer to assist with her wedding décor. Nomsa said she suspected the woman was already a contact on her WhatsApp, which made the request seem believable and harmless.
Nomsa explained that the woman told her she and her partner wanted to meet the decorator urgently before leaving for a vacation. Because of the urgency, the woman asked Nomsa to help her find someone who could assist as soon as possible.
Without suspecting any wrongdoing, Nomsa contacted her close friend and informed her about the opportunity. She then shared the woman’s contact details with her friend. At the time, Nomsa believed she was simply helping someone secure work.
Things quickly turned frightening when Nomsa received a call from her friend, who had driven to meet the woman with her husband. During the call, her friend told her they were allegedly being hijacked. Nomsa said she could hear the alleged hijackers in the background instructing her friend to “co-operate”.
According to Daily Sun, panicked and fearing for her friend’s life, Nomsa contacted the police. However, she claimed the officer who answered her call was allegedly rude and unhelpful, which left her feeling even more helpless.
“I’m not okay, guys, please please tell me what to do,” she said while breaking down in tears. Nomsa, who is also known for playing Awelani in Muvhango, said she could not understand how people could be so “evil”.
Despite being terrified, Nomsa later called the woman who had initially contacted her. The woman claimed that Nomsa’s friend had arrived at the meeting location. Nomsa said she could hear from the woman’s voice that she was a criminal.
Nomsa later claimed she received a call from the police and from the victim’s family, confirming that her friend and her husband had been found. Although they were located, the incident has left Nomsa traumatised as she continues to come to terms with the shocking experience.
